UPDATE – More Canadian Content Coming to the AFP Website

September 16, 2013

By Giovanni (Gio) Festa, MBA

One of the most important identified issues for Canadian AFP members is greater and more visible Canadian content on the AFP International website and social media platforms.

The AFP Canada Council Task Force is leading this project and thanks all members who took the time to respond to the recent survey on this topic. Your responses provided important feedback and suggestions regarding Canada-specific information that will help us make changes over the next year to better serve you and your fellow AFP Canada members.

Highlights of the feedback include that Canadian content is currently difficult to find on the AFP International website and that there is a need for:

-        More Canadian content
-        Canadian contributors
-        Information to be available in French as well as English
-        A twitter account in Canada

The type of additional information that respondents suggested includes:

-        Canadian tax issues
-        How Canadian fundraisers are operating, and challenges they are facing
-        Canadian educational offerings
-        Canadian trends and white papers

The task force is continuing to work with staff at AFP International to implement changes to better serve Canadian members, and we appreciate all those who provided feedback to help guide our process.

Congratulations to Tania Gauthier, CFRE in Winnipeg who was the lucky recipient of the new book, Global Fundraising: How the World is Changing the Rules of Philanthropy, by Penelope Cagney and Bernard Ross!
