Director of Development, The Regional Performing Arts Center - The Regional Performing Arts Center in Carmel, Indiana, seeks a Director of Development to lead the fund raising efforts for annual and capital campaigns.

This new Center, opening in Fall 2010, will consist of three venues that can accommodate the needs of almost any performing art form: a 1,600 seat concert hall designed to be one of the finest performance spaces in America, a state-of the-art 500 seat proscenium theatre, and 200 seat black box. The Center will present classical music, a wide range of popular music, jazz, theatre, dance, etc., and serve as the performance home for many resident local and regional arts organizations.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a staff and create a comprehensive fund raising program. Experience developing and managing effective programs of prospect identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, donor benefits, and stewardship; creating volunteer fund-raising organizations; and raising annual funds of at least $3 million is essential. A successful track record of direct solicitation of high net worth individuals is crucial, as well as exemplary writing and interpersonal skills. Experience managing a staff and interacting with trustees is required. Experience raising funds in the performing arts is helpful, but not required.

Director of Resource Development, Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis

 

Key Roles required:

1.  Provide leadership and direction to the Executive Director

      and the Board of Directors in the effective operation of all development activities required to fund Club operations.  Exhibit passion, creativity, and energy for drawing donors into our mission (forming life-changing relationships with young people in distressed neighborhoods).  .Articulate a philosophy regarding the frequency, timing, and content of personal solicitation calls which echoes our own.

2.       Develop and implement a plan for single and multi-year development activities.

·         Articulates creative, fresh, and exciting ideas regarding new donor identification and board engagement.

·         Cultivates new donor relationships including major gifts, individual gifts, and corporate gifts.

·         Provides stewardship of donors.

·         Designs and implements annual campaign.

·         Implements It Just Takes One individual gift campaign.

·         Ensures donor records are up to date.

·         Supervises Resource Development Associate who serves as grant writer and assists with special events.

3.       Ensures the evaluation of development activities and identify opportunities to improve results.

4.       Trains board members to participate in solicitation and other income development activities

5.       Staffs the Resource Development Committee.

6.       Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of the resource development budget.

7.       Serves as a member of the Staff Leadership Team.

Relationships:

·         Internal:  Maintain oral and written contact with Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff peers, and volunteers for the purpose of exchange of information, to provide progress reports regarding activities and planned programs, and to coordinate events.

·         External:  Maintain oral and written contact with business leaders, community leaders, and both donors and potential donors for the purpose of fundraising.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

·         Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

·         A minimum of two years experience in fund raising in a non profit agency.

·         Demonstrated history of making successful personal donor solicitation calls.

·         Knowledge of fund raising techniques, and sources of funding for non profit organizations.

·         Ability to organize and coordinate fund-raising activities.

·         Working knowledge of e-tapestry is beneficial.
