The Conventual Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation are based in southern Indiana, at Mount St. Francis, just across the river from Louisville, Kentucky.  Our priests and brothers work in parishes and as chaplains in hospitals, nursing homes and prisons.  We teach at universities and preach missions and retreats.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, implement and oversee policies, procedures and practices for all aspects of fundraising.  Special emphasis will be given to major gift planning, identifying major donor prospects, face-to-face solicitation, direct mail solicitation and capital campaigns.  The Director will provide leadership in developing and implementing professional development programs in all areas of fundraising.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the Development Office staff including selection, supervision, and evaluation of staff members.

Coordination of Province fundraising entities including retreat houses/centers for spirituality.

Prepare an annual budget; implement a monitoring system and controls for an annual budget that will be approved by the Treasurer, Finance Commission and the Definitory.

Establish a specific annual fund raising goal for the Development Office that is approved by the Treasurer, Finance Commission and the  Definitory.

Maintain a positive working relationship with the Development Office staff, the Minister Provincial and other Province staff as well as external communities to maximize fundraising efforts.

Oversee all aspects of the major gift and planned giving program.

Design written materials, including correspondence and solicitation materials.

Maintain and oversee a data base of ongoing and prospective donors that can be used in solicitation for various fund raising campaigns.


Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred

7 - 10 years of successful fundraising experience

Supervisory experience required

Excellent verbal and written skills
