Job Objective: The Divisional Grants and Research Manager is responsible for conducting research on grant opportunities and donor prospects; writing, editing and submitting grant proposals and reports; communicating applicable grant opportunities to Corps and Service Extension Units within the Indiana Division; advising program staff about proper grant management; providing grant-related support within the divison; ensuring all Indiana grant resources are utilized to their fullest extent to address current and future organizational needs; and collaborating with the development staff on holistic, unified fundraising and awareness strategies and approaches for funding support.

- Collaborates with program staff to identify priorities for support
- Conducts grant and individual donor related research in support of Engagement/Development team and local priorities
- Interacts and represents TSA with representatives of funding sources with initial funding inquiries
- Reviews RFP for funds available through grants from private foundations to determine compatibility with current and future organizational needs.
- Writes grant applications, according to formats required, and submits applications to funding agencies or foundations.
- Communicates grant related information to affiliated units throughout the state.
- Provides grant related support, includes reviewing grant proposals and providing research assistance, to affiliated units throughout the state.
- Assists in managing relationships with the United Way agencies and Community Foundations located in TSA Service Extension counties.
- Discusses program requirements and sources of funds available with administrative personnel.
- Serves as coordinator for the state to ensure duplications of grant requests do not occur.
- Confers with personnel affected by proposed program to develop program goals and objectives, outline how funds are to be used, and explain procedures necessary to obtain funding.
- Works with fiscal officer/program administrative personnel in preparing narrative justification for purchase of new equipment and other budgetary expenditures.
- Meets with representatives of funding sources to work final details of proposal.
- Directs and coordinates evaluation and monitoring of grant-funded programs, or writes specifications for evaluation or monitoring of program by outside agency.
- Assists program administrative personnel with writing and writes periodic reports to comply with grant requirements.
- Maintains master files on grants.
- Monitors paperwork connected with grant-funded programs.
- Works closely with executive director on major gift prospect research strategies.
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited college or equivalent work experience in grant writing.
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position.
Experience: Minimum three years grant writing experience
Certifications: CFRE designation a plus
- Knowledge of principles and practices of ethical fundraising is required
- Knowledge about basic accounting principles and practices is desirable
- Knowledge about local/regional foundations is preferred
- Knowledge about conducting grant research and evaluating statistics is required
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to multitask, work independently, prioritize projects according to time-sensitive deadlines, gather and analyze information skillfully, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple projects
- Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively, and to read and interpret written information
- Exceptional oral communication skills with the ability to speak clearly in positive or negative situations
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, applied while achieving results in partnership with others with the desire and ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, and Internet application
Mental and Physical abilities:
- Must be extremely detail oriented
- Must be able to relate well to others to explain grant requirements, collect information for grant reports/proposals, and manage relationships with grant funders
- Must be self-motivated, and be able to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be deadline focused
- Must be consistent in attendance and performance

Physical Requirements Include:
Travel: Minimal travel to Foundations and funding sources
Working Conditions: Usual office working conditions with the majority of time spent on a computer.
